Easy Color-Change Results
Hard to tell where overheating is coming from?
Watch compatible test fluid for a blue-to-yellow change that can indicate combustion gases in the cooling system.
Reagent remains blue: combustion gases were not detected under the conditions of this test. It does not rule out every engine problem.
A color change can indicate combustion gas in the cooling system. Further diagnosis is needed to identify the cause.

Color behavior varies by fluid formula. Always follow the directions supplied with your test reagent.
Transparent Dual Chambers
You want to see what is happening during the test.
Clear chambers and visible markings help you watch the liquid level and color as you work.

Controlled Gas Sampling
No complicated electronics needed.
A squeeze bulb draws vapor through the tester so you can perform a manual check.

How to Use
STEP 1 — Add Compatible Test Fluid. With the tester upright, add the specified amount of compatible combustion-leak detection fluid to the indicated fill line.
STEP 2 — Prepare the Cooling-System Opening. Only open the cooling system when fully cooled and depressurized. Following the vehicle and kit instructions, seat the tester at a compatible opening.
STEP 3 — Draw Vapor Through the Fluid. Following the fluid maker’s instructions and engine-operating precautions, squeeze the bulb repeatedly to draw headspace gas through the reagent. Do not draw liquid coolant into the tester.
STEP 4 — Observe the Fluid Color. Compare with the fluid manufacturer’s color guide. A blue-to-yellow change may indicate combustion gases; unchanged blue means none were detected in this test.
No Batteries Required
Keep a simple manual diagnostic tool ready.
No batteries or electronics — store it in your garage or workshop for the next cooling-system check.

Tapered Cone Adapter
Need a practical fit for compatible openings?
Designed to seal against compatible radiator or coolant-tank openings. Check fit before use.

Good to Know
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the test confirm a blown head gasket?
No. A positive fluid color change can indicate combustion gases in the cooling system, potentially from a head gasket or another internal leak. Additional diagnostic testing is required to determine the cause.
What does it mean if the test fluid stays blue?
The test did not detect combustion gas under the conditions tested. An intermittent leak or other issue may still be present, so an unchanged color is not a guarantee that the engine is problem-free.
Is test fluid included?
Only the Complete Kit + 250 mL Fluid package includes a bottle of fluid. Tester Only does not.
Do I need batteries or electronics?
No. The rubber squeeze bulb operates manually.
Does it work with every vehicle?
The tapered cone is intended for compatible coolant-system filler openings. Cap sizes, filler neck geometry, and vehicle service procedures vary, so check fit and the manufacturer’s test instructions before purchasing.
Can I use water or ordinary coolant instead of test fluid?
No. Use a compatible combustion-leak detection reagent intended for this kind of tester. Ordinary coolant or water will not provide the required diagnostic reaction.
Can I open the coolant cap while the engine is hot?
No. Never remove a hot or pressurized cooling-system cap. Wait until the system is cool and fully depressurized, then follow the vehicle and kit instructions for the test procedure.
Can I reuse the test fluid?
Follow the reagent manufacturer’s guidance. Do not return used or discolored reagent to the original bottle, and replace it when the instructions require fresh fluid.
